It was the jackal, Tabaqui. The wolves of India despise Tabaqui because he runs about making mischief, and telling tales, and eating rags and pieces of leather from the village rubbish-heaps.

He scuttled to the back of the cave, where he found the bone of a buck with some meat on it. He sat cracking the end merrily.

It was exciting to see them up close, but I also felt a bit sad. Looking at the tiger pacing restlessly in its cage, I realized that these animals belong in the wild. I strongly feel that animals should be kept in reserve forests or open sanctuaries where they can roam freely, rather than being confined in small zoo enclosures.
